Significance and Advantages of Prefabricated Homes

by Joel Leitson on 06/27/12

Prefabricated homes, also called as modular homes are gaining popularity nowadays. Traditional houses are erected by onsite workmen compared to the prefabricated ones which are built inside the premises of factories in big separate pieces. After the pieces are made, they are transferred to the site of the owners and then assembled. The assembled home is deposited on the foundation that was already laid in the property of the owner. Due to the beneficial features of prefabricated homes, it has witnessed big demands nowadays. Some of the advantages of modular homes are discussed below.

Quick Construction

Compared to homes that are custom built, modular homes are easy and quick to build. These homes are made and ready for transport in just two months, compared to the custom built which is time consuming to construct. Most people around the world want to construct their homes in a quick manner and due to that fact, modular homes are the ideal choice.

Quality Control

Compared to the site-built houses, modular homes are better insulated and well protected. The whole structure is secured as it’s constructed in an environment which is climatically controlled. This type of home can withstand all the elements of nature.

Stronger

As prefabricated homes are transported from the production facility to the owner’s site for the assembly process, the house is designed with higher durability standard and strength.

Design Flexibility

This type of home is customizable according to the taste of the owner. Most companies that specialize in modular homes offer over 100 different plans and designs. They have the liberty to select the features that they want and will suit their budget and preferences.

Energy Efficient

In the building process of prefabricated homes, less waste is generated as the materials are recycled and reused. They are indeed energy efficient homes and they are constructed with care. The possibility of having drafts or gaps is minimal as all the walls of the house are either nailed or glued for additional strength. Modular homes also require small air-cons as well as heating system compared to those custom built houses.

Modular Additions

Additions or remodeling prefabricated homes with additional bedrooms, kitchen space, office space, garages, bathrooms and others is easy.

Quality Inspections

Compared to those homes that are built onsite, prefabricated homes pass through 300 quality inspections in order to ensure the quality level.

Environment Friendly

Prefabricated homes are also friendly to the environment as the materials used in their construction are recycled and then reused. It also utilizes small amount of energy and infrequently causes any pollution. Nowadays, most individuals believe in greener environment and favor purchasing modular homes due to the eco-friendly nature of the house.

Prefabricated homes are designed to withstand all natural disasters like hurricanes and tornadoes as they are built stronger and in an environment which is climatically controlled. For all the available reasons, many people around the world prefer to purchase homes that are manufactured inside the factories. There are also a lot of companies offering impeccable services when it comes to building modular homes.

Prefab Home Prices & Costs

by Joel Leitson on 04/29/12

New prefab home prices. A house of your own is everybody’s dream. However, if you plan to build it yourself, there could be months or years in the making. The alternative is Prefab Homes, which allow easy and swift manufacturing and installation for great prefab home prices. If you decide, that you want a prefab home, the parts will be pre-made, and you should expect no surprises, with each part made to perfection. It doesn’t matter what you want, because prefab houses allow easy customization and unique houses! When it comes to first time home builders, the price is the factor that makes these homes, much more attractive.

With prefab home prices lower you can expect to pay much less for your prefab home than your pain-stakenly constructed house, but also allows you as much benefit, if not more than a normal constructed house. Lower prefab home prices allow you to spend on other customizations for your house, such as curtains, decks, carpet, wood floors to really make your prefab house, your home.  Otherwise, think about all the fees, unexpected and errors that take money from your wallet.

Because prefab homes are made “prefabricated”, which means that the parts like windows and walls are all made ready for you and done by accordingly, workers and specialists are no longer needed in the process to design, work and create the individual parts, which allow prefab home prices to be lowered.  Unlike project managers, you can expect manufactures to buy the supplies needed, in masses allowing you to be sure of the quality, but also bulk buying means less money. Prefab homes are constructed indoors, unlike constructed houses where they’re made partially, if not on-site. This prefabricated process disallows long waits, and exceeding costs. Typically, owners of prefab homes spend 10 – 15 % less for their comfortable and quick homes than the common and stressful construction homes, and though this might not seem much, there’s a lot of ways to spend that money.

The biggest prefab home price, is most likely the land. While the house is much cheaper than that of a constructed house, the land is also too much of a bother, unlike constructions, which also take time to set-up and build. Costs for these homes, are quite simple, because prefab home companies will provide you everything you need and install it for you, from the foundation, to the windows to the roof. Everything that is prefabricated, is done professionally and to high quality that you can most definitely trust.

Unlike old homes, where there is the task of laying down your own foundation and installing your prefab home, you probably want to get it installed. These costs are included in the installation, nowadays so it wouldn’t be too important. Of course there are also other regulations for your prefab home that could include zoning, electrical, water, heating. These could also be costs, that you want to deal with, though it shouldn’t be too much effort and when compared to constructions, these are nothing.

If you think that you can install your own prefab home, just to lower the prefab home costs, you’re probably wrong. Unless you have built your own house,  and own yourself a construction set, you would also have to deal with the restrictions, limits and water/electrical codes which would probably take up more time and money than necessary. Once, you’ve achieved that, you’d probably need a driveway, gutters, waterways, well drilling, and finally inspect and fix any damages or errors that may have occurred. So, unless you can achieve all this in a quick time, the faster and most likely to be cheaper option has been to just get it installed for you! So, prefab home prices are one of the best parts of choosing a prefabricated home! New prefab home prices are worth looking into.

Green Prefab Homes For The World.

by Joel Leitson on 04/26/12

Green Prefab Homes

More and more people these days, are becoming concerned about the Earth, and it’s weakening status. Because of this, people are looking for green and eco-friendly solutions, to their lives. When building homes, consider building prefab homes to reduce negative impact on the environment, while also enjoying healthy and lovely lifestyles for yourself. By increasing restrictions and efficiency in energy, fresh water use, healthy and long-term materials for your homes, and a healthy place for your prefab home, you can minimize disturbances to the Earth’s environment and allow yourself a nice piece of housing. Eco-friendly homes are becoming more popular, with the news on global warming, and energy costs rising. That is why green prefab homes are now in demand, and can supply as many incentives as a normal constructed home.

The main goal of a green home is the reduce the carbon footprint of building and constructing the home, and maintaining an energy efficient house that minimizes it’s toll on the Earth. When a house is built, normally large amounts of land have to be cleared for the materials to be built. Added to actually construct the building equipment, this affects the land negatively and any animals living in that habitat. Green prefab homes allow you to have the site cleared where only the foundation is needed to be poured. This means less space is disturbed and allows your home to look natural and blend in.

If you fancy making sure everything is eviromentaly friendly, then it shouldn’t be a problem with prefab homes. The home can be made of customizable materials, such as recycled materials or energy efficient parts. Other customizations include, solar panels to supply power and reduce costs, both to the Earth and your bills. Appliances can be further chosen, which could be Energy Star certified, or heating and electrical equipment that work using less energy, and therefore more eco-friendly and easy to handle too.

Green prefab home designs allow you many different combinations and interesting concepts on how you can design your own unique house. Construction of your house, is easy too and allows multiple ways of accomplishing your goals. Because the prefab house parts are made specially at the factory, the designer and builder can be to the point, and create high quality materials for your house. Because everything is done together, there’s little waste to the environment compared to individual and common construction and manufacturing.

Because most homes are still not entirely eco-friendly, it’s usually hard to find the materials, bit by bit for you home. Now, it’s not a problem when you can order in bulk and because there is a number of projects to be done, there is little delay, error, and unreliable “substitutes” when there isn’t any material. Also, everything is bulk-ordered and bought, and everything is taken to the place of construction in large portions, there is little pollution transporting the materials. Another positive for the environment, when building green prefab homes, is that there is little storage for materials on site, which means less rubbish to clean up, and therefore less pollution and waste for a more eco-friendly installation.

Other than being green, these ‘shortcuts’ also cut down on the costs of the prefab home and shorten the whole installation compared to a constructed house. Green prefab homes can look like anything you like, from the common house, to a uniquely flavored home. Building a green prefab home can be fun and allow you to have a perfect eco-friendly house. Green prefab homes are the future in innovation and eviromental homes that allow an excellent blend of personality and care for the Earth!

Prefab House Kits

by Joel Leitson on 04/06/12

Prefab house kits have had a lot of history along America’s grand history. The early versions of the prefab house were from England, as early as the 1600s. However, the real pre-manufacturings of the early “prefab houses” didn’t happen until “house kits”. These kits contained everything you needed to build houses, and the owners could build the whole thing by themselves or hire other people to build them. The earliest of this type of houses, began as early as 1906, with it beginning to be so popular that there were more than 100,000 prefab homes sold from 1908 to 1940. No one would know then, but it was only the beginning of prefab homes kits.

Why were these prefab homes kit so popular? Because, people with money wanted to build their houses fast, benefiting from the thriving automotive, iron, steel and coal industries that were booming in other areas. Whereas before, most parts would be constructed on site by builders, now with the mass productions and machines, the parts were much more affordable and quick to make, allowing them to be sold and delivered to the general public. Skilled persons now don’t have to make it themselves, with mass production. Plumbing and electrical technician wouldn’t have been needed with the equipment being installed in the factory, allowing for perfection and reduced labour costs.

Overall this meant that more middle-class Americans could benefit and build their own homes, for less money, a kit could contain all that would have been needed to build a house, from walls and bricks, to paint and nails and instructions to erect the house. These average Americans didn’t just want to build their first houses, but some wanted to build vacation houses, or beach shacks.

After the stock-market crash, prefab home kits declined. After the World War II, the sales increased again. The returning war heroes needed a place to live. This made prefab house kits popular, again and allowed families to construct houses wherever they fancied. After the government decided to regulate the prefab homes for safety reasons, the design, structure, heating, plumbing, electronic systems all improved and developed to higher standards.

When prefab houses kits are constructed at the factory, the land needs to be set up to prepare for the house. The power and water must be set up, and the foundation has to be poured with concrete and the basement and underground rooms must be set.

As mentioned in the name, prefab home kits are fabricated at the factory, allowing customization and risk-free parts. Prefab homes are normally constructed from the inside to the otheside. The floors are first assembled and then the wood frame for the panels is assembled. The wall panels are then attached with nails and bolts. Once this happens, the panels are insulated and the windows are cut out to insert the glass, later.

Once this happens, the house structure is in place, and the water, electricity, heating services and the ceiling are installed. The roof is then put upon the structure and this happens either offsite, or constructed at the place of venue. The exterior and interior details are attended to. This may include doors, cabinets, kitchen, bathroom, carpet, floor and other decorations. The walls and ceiling are painted, too.

Since then, prefab home kits have become popular again and are a low-cost option for house builders that want a quick and pain-less construction. Another development of these prefab home kits is that it allowed people in more crowded countries to afford their own long-term homes. Recently, the prefab home kit market has been targeting environmentally friendly homes, catering for everyone!

Elite Prefab Homes to Help Provide Housing for the Homeless.

by Joel Leitson on 10/22/11

Elite Prefab Homes, a world leader in manufacturing prefabricated buildings and structures with structural insulated panels (SIP), is on the forefront to better the homeless in emerging and third world nations, including earthquake ravaged Haiti.

Affordable Housing Institute

Elite Prefab Homes quotes David A. Smith, founder of the Affordable Housing Institute (AHI), a non-profit consultancy think-tank that works internationally to create affordable housing policies and program outside the United States:

Though free markets unleash productivity and innovation, they are still bound by economic laws. The most important law is market price reflects market demand. Because half of the population is below median income, market-quality housing commands market prices. As a result, markets alone will never satisfactorily house a nation's poorest citizens.”

Smith further asserts whether people buy or rent, housing is typically affordable to only half of the population. Those citizens who flood the world's growing metropolitan areas, however, are overwhelmingly poor: they arrive in cities that were built for smaller populations, and whose formal-sector housing producers can only build housing that these urban immigrants cannot afford. The result is a spontaneous community of self-built or informally built homes—the shanty towns, settlements, and ever-expanding slums that sprout like mushrooms on the outskirts of cities in the developing world.

Elite Prefab Homes kits

Elite Prefab Homes by providing cost-effective kits, offers solutions to the world's housing shortage for the deprived, under-privileged and low-income populations in society. Elite Prefab Homes kits provide a system for basic, low-cost, quality built housing.

Each Prefab Homes kit contains prefabricated buildings constructed with SIP panels are (SIP) and is a product that fuses a foam core, like expanded polystyrene, between two outer skins of cement board for the walls and aluminum (for the roof) to create a super-strong construction panel. These are used to construct exterior walls, roofs and ceilings. Elite Prefab Homes offer superior insulation qualities, exceptional strength, fast installation and a host of benefits to the environment plus, no wood for bugs to eat. And the sandwich panels are the lowest in cost, most rapidly erected, simplest in design, and most structurally sound-basic housing in existence today.

Developers—Elite Prefab Homes withstands hurricanes and earthquakes

Depending on size of homes, Elite Prefab Homes kit comes with three to 7 homes in a container. From the start of assembly to locking the front door, it takes three unskilled laborers just 24 hours. And Elite Prefab Homes produces 10,000 homes a month in Elite’s 209,000 square foot factory in Florida. Each prefabricated structure can withstand a category five hurricane on the Safi-Simpson scale and a seismic six earthquake. These prefabs are engineered to last at least a century. Elite Prefab Homes was founded in 1975 and has State of Florida approval.

Elite Prefab Home’s school buildings are available with or without bathroom or storage facilities, a fraction of the cost of mobile home classrooms. Compare the five-year life expectancy of mobile home style classrooms to that of the hundred-plus years an Elite Prefab Home school building has.

Elite Prefab Home’s particular method of construction is extremely quick and simple, which reduces construction capital and overall costs. Best of all, it lets the developer, contractor or regulation authority be more in control of they project, minimizing or eliminating weather, theft, skilled labor, material, etc. problems that often drain profitability or add to costs.
